    Memory

    Trauma

    Preservation?

On trauma and effects of engaging with visceral bodily practices such as yoga, touch-

‘As well as looking or highlighting the significance of the action of the body onto ourselves through experience, we can also look at the action of the body/ body parts to bring us back to ourselves.  The duality of our existence.’

book: The Body Keeps The Score allowed me to begin to investigate this ongoing series based on its articulation on the long term effects of trauma onto our bodies.  And possibly consider and be part of the current conversations on how unaware or aware we are of the language of the body.

Tactile Memory has grown into a participatory research project that is also titled ‘Housing Memory’ which is a vital research project in my practice.  The workshop series focuses on the bodies ability to physically store memory and how memories could be accessed, articulated and released through actively engaging with various materials through methodologies within printmaking and performance art making.

  • How does one remember memory, through an object, scent, the body? I’m thinking about how we hold ourselves or others in our bodies and how can we create a tangible space in which we can release these memories to be kept or re-remembered in an alternative way.

    Thinking through writing

Housing Memory a workshop I co-facilitated during BHM asked participants to bring in memorable objects in which we used a catalyst for the body to respond and creates a physical archive in paper as a material.
